Alters

Before you will be able to make or do any of your work, or do any of the rituals from this book, or any other book, You will need a place to to perform them. There is no right or wrong to how you set up your alter. Many choose to set up their alter to how they feel in there heart, or how another practitioner has tuaght them, What is important, is your symbols that you will use.

Here in my book of shadows, we will set the alter as I do. Just to give you the basic structure. I like to use for symbols are the "Elements" of the "Pentacle"

Earth.... Rich loam or soil (from hallowed ground preferablely) placed in eathenware cup.

Air...... Incence placed in, or on a wood or earthware holder or cup, and burned during the ritual.

Fire..... A" Blessed" white candle or vegetable oil with a floating wick, placed in a earthware cup, which is also lit during the ritual

Water. Pure water in a crystel or earthware cup.

God or Goddess Symbol.. can be any symbol that connnects to your path or to your heart. I choose a amulet of Os`tara, some people use a penacle, and others use what is found in nature. Flowers, Crystels, Stones ect.

Substitutions may be made if it is preferable, depending on your intent or the reason for the ritual. As I said there is really no right or wrong way to how you set it up your own alter.

Next you will need a wand. I prefer a wand if possiable, a thirteen inch Willow rod. My wand is polished, painted black, wraped in rawhide, with a rose crystel & crow feathers fasten to the end. But a rough unfinished one is just as satisfaoctory. Some practitioners also like to use sented incense sticks as a wand. during their work .

I keep my wand near my right hand on the alter

Bless your alter with a incantation or prayer.
