..... The cat has been a central position among animals through out the world to have a wealth of superstition. ... Begining with the ancient Egyptians belief, which many people around the world still believed today, that cats have nine lives.

..... One of the more significant of all the cat superstitions, is the belief of a cat totally black in color, crosses a person's path, bestows good fortune and enables the person concerned to make a wish.... Though in the USA, spain, and belgium, where black cats bring just the opposite bad luck.

......As a child I remember my mother telling of a sneezing cat promises rain, unless the cat sneezes three times, in which case all the family will suffer colds. None the less a sneezing cat in our house was to be let outside, to give the cold to someone else.
